One of the best IIT among 2nd and 3rd generation IITs..
I was there for summer internship and talking about infrastructure, laboratory, hostels, campus, food quality everything thing is good..
most of the building are completed but still some construction work are going on.
only cons is that it's located in simrol which is 20km far from main city of Indore.

In keeping with India's vision to become a world leader in Science and Technology and to usher in a new revolution, resulting in an unprecedented economic growth, Government of India reassessed the need of technical manpower and decided to set up eight new IITs. Six of them started functioning back from the academic year 2008-09. These were established at Hyderabad, Gandhinagar, Rajasthan, Ropar, Patna and Bhubaneswar. IIT Indore and IIT Mandi started functioning from July 2009.

Indian Institute of Technology Indore located in Madhya Pradesh, known as IIT Indore or IITI, is an institute of national importance established by the Government of India in 2009. It is one of the eight new IITs, started by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The institution started functioning from 2009-10 in a temporary campus at Institute of Engineering and Technology of Devi Ahilya University under mentorship of IIT Bombay. Shri Arjun Singh, the Union HRD minister, laid the foundation of the permanent campus, spread over an area of around 501.42-acre (2.1 km2), on 17th February 2009 at Simrol, a location on Khandwa Road about 25 km from the city of Indore.

Since , February 2016, IIT Indore has started functioning from its permanent campus. All the Administrative Offices, Material Management Section, Finance and Account Section, The School of Basic Sciences, The School of Humanities and Social Sciences, The School of Engineering, Basic Science Labs and Engineering Labs are all established in this campus. The Central Library is also situated in this campus.

IIT Indore is a second generation IIT came in operation in 2009 under mentorship of IIT Bombay, initially started functioning at IET Indore campus. Ever since the permanent campus of allotted, It has developed the greatest infrastructure and a beautiful campus in a few years at Simrol.!

Being an IIT, The institution’s foundation is focused towards Technology and Innovation still it has a long way to go on research and innovation. The current director Prof. Suhas Joshi possess a great experience from IITB and University of Illinois and he is focused to develop the great skills and innovation and shaping up the future of Institute.

Visiting IIT Indore always give a great feeling, Hopefully someday the institution will be among top second generation IIT’s.

Green Campus,
Good and quiet study environment,
Advanced and automated labs,
Focus and mission is mainly research oriented,
In my school time,i had only heard about the equipments but here,i saw them work for the first time..it was really a dream come true... there're so many advanced equipments in Sophisticated Instrumentation Centre
Hostels are quite good and advanced,
Mess is also in great condition and they provide mostly healthy food
The learning resource centre LRC is so good,
IITI has three to four cafe and also there's a shopping complex for students . there's a residence hall too..

I interviewed for the position of Executive Officer at IIT Indore in July 2023. The role involved managing international MoUs/agreements, global engagements, international student admissions across all programs, joint and co-supervision degree programs, bilateral research collaborations, mobility initiatives, and academic and research exchanges. The interview experience was pleasant, although the essay writing portion was challenging. I believe they ultimately selected an internal candidate with a PhD. The campus is large but located outside Indore, and it took me an hour and ₹1000 by cab to get there. All the candidates were highly knowledgeable, making it a great overall experience!
